Scholarships for Exchange or Outreach Programmes

i) Exchange Scholarships

To encourage student participation in both the University–wide and College initiated exchange programmes, CW Chu College will provide top-up financial support to students who would like to go for exchange during the four years of study.   CWC students with confirmed offers will be invited to submit applications for Exchange Scholarships, details will be announced by the College via mass email in due course.

Remarks:

  •  The amount of Exchange Scholarships granted depends on the destination of the exchange programmes, students’ contributions to the College, their financial need and financial assistance provided by other CUHK units/ organizations etc.
  •  Needy students with genuine financial needs may also apply for additional subsidies when planning for outbound exchange by providing written justifications and supporting proofs together with their applications for College Exchange Scholarships to the Admissions, Scholarships and Financial Aid Committee (ASFAC) for review and consideration.
Application and procedures

 

 

 

 

Target students will be invited by the College to submit applications for the College Exchange Scholarships at the beginning of Term 2 of each academic year.

Applications and supporting documents received will be reviewed and considered by the ASFAC. Applicants will be notified of the result by March.

ii) Financial Support for Overseas Summer Programmes/ Activities

CW Chu College also provides financial support to students participating in overseas summer programmes/outreach activities such as service trips, research programmes, overseas internship, summer exchange programmes and language immersion programmes etc. The amount of subsidies granted may vary but participating students are expected to partially support themselves.

Recipients of the College Exchange Scholarships or financial support for overseas summer programmes are expected to share their learning experiences with their fellow students by submitting a self-reflection report to the College upon completion of their trips, or to conduct a sharing at suitable occasions.

Remarks:

  • The amount of financial support granted depends on a number of factors including  the destination of the outreach programmes, duration of the trip, transportation and accommodation costs involved, students’ financial need and financial assistance provided by other CUHK units/ organizations etc.

Applications and supporting documents received will be reviewed and considered by the ASFAC. Applicants will be notified of the result during summer.

iii) Reaching Out Award

In order to equip students with international exposure, the HKSAR Government has launched the Reaching Out Award (ROA) which is granted on an annual basis. Award quotas will be allocated to the nine Colleges and Graduate School proportionally based on the number of eligible students.

Target group CWC students who have completed/ are participating in/ will participate in the outreaching activities which are conducted outside Hong Kong from September of this year to August of the next year

Application and procedures

 

 

 

A mass email with details of the application will be issued by the College at the end of Term 1/ beginning of Term 2 of each academic year.

Applications and supporting documents received will be reviewed and considered by the ASFAC. The ASFAC will then select the most suitable candidates as nominees for the ROA.
