Evelyn Chan was previously Associate Professor at the Department of English at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, where she taught for thirteen years.

Chan graduated from CUHK with a BA (First Class Honours) in English. She received the Sir Edward Youde Memorial Fellowship for Overseas Studies for postgraduate work at the University of Cambridge, where she obtained her PhD.

Chan’s PhD was on the topic of Virginia Woolf and the Professions. She has published widely on Woolf and on Joseph Conrad.

Upon her return to CUHK to teach, Chan expanded her research into the field of education. She obtained a Master’s in Social and Educational Research from the University of London. Since then, she has published essays and books based on interview narratives by students and graduates. She is currently working on narratives by doctors and patients, which she has collected through interviews.
